Our last blog post... :(

The computer Club is finally at it's end.

This was the first time any of us have ever done anything like this! I suspect everyone here at the computer club enjoyed their time here! I really loved doing it and I hope we can do it again sometime!

We learnt so much more about computers: How to make our own blogs, how to use Photostory 3, how to use Microsoft Powerpoint to make a slide/slideshow and do the presentation in our school assembly and the whole school LOVED it I think!

And just in case you didn't know we adopted Ziggy the donkey with R3100!!!!!! I absolutely loved it and enjoyed my time here at the computer club and I (and I think the rest of us aswell!) would LOVE to do it again!

So I guess this is our last post... Be seeing you guys! Good-bye! (Lots of tears!) And here is our adoption certificate and AND our report on our little Ziggy!: And some of us at the end! :)

The picking up of the poo, cleaning the bath and the interviews...

This post is all about everything we did at the donkey sanctuary! (Well, kind of! As the heading says!) The whole thing was really SOOOOOO much fun! Meeting the donkeys, picking up the poo, having lunch (the burgers) and doing the interviews! It was all amazing! I think we all enjoyed it really very much! Despite the long drive!

The poo stank a bit, (depending on how fresh it was! HA HA!) the donkeys were dusty and the lunch, delicious, all in all, everybody enjoyed it very much! I LOVED it! It was really lovely!

Grooming The Donkeys

It's really very important to groom and clean donkeys/your donkey so they don't get dirty and smelly.

As I said in one of my earlier posts, when we were cleaning the donkey at Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary a few/some of them were really very dusty. Whenever you patted or brushed them, dust would come off their fur or hair or whatever you call it!!!!!! Anyway, their fur/hair was very dusty.

Their teeth need to be cleaned (or something like that!!) and looked after to prevent infection.

Their hooves need to be cleaned regularly because they get very clogged up, so it's good to clean out their hooves regularly.

The person who does all the foot/hoove things is called a farrier.

They also need to have their eyes kept clean to stop the flies irritating their eyes and also to prevent infections.

 The first meeting with the donkeys for me was exciting. It was also funny at one point because some of the donkeys sounded very anxious because of the braying sound they made.



Before we went into the paddock we were told what and what not to do around the donkeys. The donkeys in the sanctuary were all there because they were all abused by their owners in the past. They came to the sanctuary either because they were old, abused or badly abused or just not wanted. I think. They came there to be looked after, cared and loved for again.

Anyway, getting back to the meeting with the donkeys. When I petted the first donkey (after they had come out that is) he/she was very dusty and if you patted it, dust would start to fly everywhere!!!! There were also some cute ones!!!! (which were the two young ones and some of the others too!!) I had lots and LOTS of fun doing it!!!!!!

The Long Way Down...

We left the school at 7 o' clock to go to Eseltjiesrus in McGregor. It was a really REALLY long drive to get there! (two and a half hours!!!!) Luckily we brought on-board snacks (sandwiches),water and juice. On the way there I played some games (electronic chess,electronic 20 questions and some kind of Sonic game thingy) and relaxed with big pillows and a blanket/blankets. Joel was with me (he read most of the time!) but it was REALLY fun on the way there. Oh and by the way... IT WAS ON SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
